AMS(알파메틸스티렌)은 이소프로페닐벤젠이라고
하며, 다양한 스티렌 중합에 사용된다. 또한 자동차 산업, 전자제품의 외부
틀, 보호용코팅제 등에 사용되는 ABS수지의 내열성을 위하여 첨가된다.
열가소성 수지 및 폴리카보네이트 수지의 첨가제인 파라큐밀페놀의 제조에도 사용된다.
