3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

Human health hazards:

Dust or small particles may cause eyes. Not classified as dangerous under EC criteria

Safety hazards:

Danger of dust explosion when ground to a small particle size. Risk of generating electrostatic charges during handling. Not classified as flammable but will burn.

Environmental hazards:

No specific hazards.

Other information:

Not classified as dangerous for supply or conveyance.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

Symptoms and effects:

Not expected to give rise to an acute hazard under normal conditions of use.

First Aid - Inhalation:

No specific measures.

First Aid - Skin:

Wash skin with water using soap if available.

First Aid - Eye:

Flush eye with water. If persistent irritation occurs, obtain medical attention.

First Aid - Ingestion:

Do not induce vomiting. In the unlikely event of ingestion, obtain medical attention immediately.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Specific hazards:

Not classified as flammable but will burn. Carbon monoxide may be evolved if incomplete combustion occurs.

Extinguishing media - small fires:

Dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide, foam, water spray or fog, sand or earth.

Extinguishing media - large fires:

Foam, water spray or fog.

Unsuitable extinguishing media:

Water in a jet.

Protective equipment:

Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Personal precautions:

Avoid rasing a dust cloud.

Take precautionary measures against static discharge. Remove all possible sources of ignition in the surrounding area.

Personal protection:

Wear protective clothing specified for normal operations (see Section8).

If risk of inhalation of dust wear general purpose dust respirator (disposable) NPF 7-10.

Environmental precautions:

No specific measures.

Clean-up methods - small spillage:

Shovel up and place in a labelled, sealable container for subsequent safe disposal.

Flush contaminated area with plenty of water.

Clean-up methods - large spillage:

Transfer to a labelled container for product recovery or safe disposal. Flush away residues with water.

Other information:

See section 13 form information on disposal.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling:

Use local exhaust extraction over processing area. Avoid generation or accumulation of dusts. Electrostatic charges may be generated during handling;

for example, when crushing, grinding, and sieving or emrtying bags, paticularly in the preparation of solutions in organic solvents.

Earth all equiment including funnels, chutes and drums.

Storage:

Keep container tightly closed and dry. Keep away from direct sunlight. Palletised loads should be stacked to a maximum of 3 high.

Maximum storage time 12 months.

Storage temperatures:

Ambient.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION

Occupational exposure standards:

None established.

Respiratory protection:

Not normally required. If risk of inhalation of dust wear general purpose dust respirator (disposable) NPF 7-10.

Hand protection:

PVC gloves.

Eye protection:

Dust-tight monogoggles.

Body protection:

Standard issue work clothes. Safety shoes or boots - chemical resistant.

Stability:

Stable under normal use conditions.

When molten, polymerises exothermically with amines, mercaptans and Lewis acids. Polymerises in contact with caustic soda.

Conditions to avoid:

Heat. Strong sunlight for prolong periods. Caustic soda can induce a vigirous polymerisation at temperature around 200¡É.

Materials to avoid:

Strong acids. Strong oxidising agents.

Hazardous decomposition products:

Hazardous decomposition products are not expected to form during normal storage.
